Neck Deep

This week I was essentially getting ready for the research showcase in January. With confirmation that we will be displaying our work in January at The Star, the deadline definitely seems to be becoming more and more prevalent and pushed us to begin consolidating our research into a proper presentation. Not only did this help plan my future in the program, but it did help to reflect on the past and how much information and knowledge I learned in just these couple of weeks. Despite not having any interviews this week, I still feel that I was able to gather more knowledge and really comprehend the experiences I've had so far and how they affect my possible career path as well as specialties by going more in-depth into this research.

To truly prepare for the research showcase, the first task was to design a rough sketch of a board layout. To get some information as well as inspiration on exactly what this entailed, I looked at some examples of previous ISM students. When I looked at these examples, I was that they are such incredibly professional students with display boards that seemed beyond their age and still adequately showed their own individual comprehension of the essentials of that career, rather than just spouting out information.This really gave me the drive to put in even more effort than before into this research showcase because in a few weeks I will be in the same position but only with hard work and determination will I be able to bold equal ranks with those featured in the examples. Therefore I have to spend time planning set goals, sticking to the plan, and executing in order to ensure that I have the best quality research display possible.Even with just a simple sketch of what my display board should look like, something that I knew I could change as time goes on, I spent so much planning, replanning, and adjusting to express what I envisioned for myself.This just further proof that I was listening to my own advice and pay more attention to detail than before , as I am surely not a perfectionist but with this project I definitely had a similar attitude.I hope to impress with the research show case because I do want to make a good impression to any possible connections that I can make that night.

Overall it was a long week but I do believe that I was able to better plan for the more busy and chaotic weeks ahead. This week helped established a goal go specifically designed for the research showed case, which was to plan and execute smaller parts of the research showcase at appropriate times and spent quality time on each part in order to avoid a last minute project. With the recent showcase coming up end time only going faster, I also realize that I need to be making more calls so that I can finalize on my mentor. Go I do have a doctor that I would not mind asking for a mentorship, I would like to further my insurance by going into other interviews to make sure that I am not missing out on any possible doctor that might be better suited. Therefore I have to set a goal to call at least five more doctors by the end of the week to get a better feel of what I want in a mentor.This week gave me the time I needed to see where I have grown to but also see where I could possibly grow to and they gave me a better idea on where I stand as a student
